MT. VERNON BRANCH LIBRARY—Full Time Library Assistant-Youth Services
Full time position Library Assistant, Youth Services (40 hours per week) position available immediately at the Mt. Vernon Branch Library. Duties include, but are not limited to, organizing and conducting all youth (toddler, children, teen) programming and events including preschool story time, homeschool student programs, summer reading program, and working with middle grade students and teens. Responsible for weeding and maintaining children and teen collections. Performs general circulation duties, shelves material, and assists library customers in locating information and books.
Desirable experience, education and training—Graduation from high school required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in a library related field preferred. Experience in library work including working with children AND teens and a knowledge of children’s AND teen literature; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities of position are REQUIRED. Must possess the ability to positively promote library services in the community. Excellent computer, organizational, and customer service skills required.
Starting pay ($27,373.68-$34,159.68 yearly) is dependent upon experience and education level. Benefits are included. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Currently the Mt. Vernon Branch is open Monday 8:30-7:00 and Tuesday - Saturday 8:30-5:30. They are closed on Sundays.
